GARDENS & GROUNDS 

The extensive gardens are a feature of La Rose des Vents, with sunny patios and shady corners, and the cottages are located on opposite sides of the gardens, offering complete privacy and tranquility within the 2.5 acres of secure gated grounds.

Relax by the 11 x 5.5 metre heated swimming pool  (28 degrees minimum between April - beginning of October) which is sited within the orchard with views over the vineyards.  The orchard is accessed via locked monumenal iron gates and the pool is alarmed to ensure the safety of little ones.

There is  a large grassed area for ball games, and badminton, swing ball and boules are available on site.  Bring your own tennis racquet, as guests have access to the tennis courts in the commune, free of charge.

Undercover parking keeps the cars cool in summer

....and guests are invited to enjoy the herbs, apples, pears, plums, cherries, apricots and figs growing in the gardens and orchard.

We offer all our guests a complimentary tour of the local area and vineyards in our 4 seater Morgan sports cars, and provide a welcome pack of local Charentaise specialities.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

On your first night, you can pre-order a welcome 3 or 4 course dinner with wine (£25 or £30 per person) to be served in your cottage - if you have young children put them to bed, light the candles. and sit back and relax.  For larger groups booking both cottages, dinner can be reserved and served in the Manor House or under the stars in the garden.  Menus and special dietary requirements will be discussed in advance with you.

If you are arriving late, you can order your weekend shopping (by email) in advance for a small administrative fee of 8 euros.

Maid service for a mid stay clean can be organised (15 euros per hr, paid locally)

Bicycles can be hired in advance from a local company, and delivered to your cottage.  www.bikehiredirect.com

ACCESS TO SERVICES

Although located in a quiet hamlet surrounded by vineyards and sunflower fields, the full range of shops and 3 supermarkets are located just 5 minutes drive away in the market town of Matha, and Cognac is just 15 minutes away.  The local bread van delivers to your door each morning, and you can visit a market every day of the week in one  of the many nearby towns and villages.

......and you can sample the local cuisine in a range of restaurants from open air cafes to gourmet restaurants within 5 - 15 minutes drive.

An information folder in each cottage is brimming with ideas of places ot visit, restaurants to try, supermarket opening times and local markets, and up to date brochures supplied by the Tourist Office.
