When winter arrives in the Charente Maritime, early mornings and evenings are crisp, but days can offer bright blue skies and sunshine. It has been known to snow and sharp frosts are not uncommon.

However, Christmas and New Year in the region can be magical, with beautiful Christmas lights adorning the towns, concerts, Christmas markets and gastronomic delights for sale in the shops and markets. So why not spoil yourself and do your Christmas shopping in France this year?

New for 2007, our Special Christmas Programme comprises:

Christmas Shopping extra long weekends (Wednesday – Monday during December)

Take advantage of those cheap flights/car hire and visit the Christmas market, Christmas lights and shops in Bordeaux, with a 5 night stay in one of our luxury self catering cottages.

Arrive on Wednesday and enjoy a welcome 4 course dinner with aperitifs and wine, served in the Manor House;

Explore Saintes on Thursday, a beautiful town famed for its Roman heritage;

Take the train (or drive if you prefer) to Bordeaux on Friday and enjoy the sights, outdoor Christmas market, Christmas lights, wine tasting and shopping.

On Saturday, enjoy a leisurely day in Cognac - why not visit one of the famous Cognac houses, and tour the old town. In the evening, a 4 course dinner with wine and cognac at a local Chateau restaurant is included.

Sunday is a free day for you to enjoy exploring the area – the coast is just an hour away, and there are a range of scenic runs available. Depart Monday

The price of £175 per person (based on 4 persons sharing one cottage) includes accommodation in one cottage for 5 nights; welcome 4 course dinner with aperitif and wine; and a 4 course dinner with wine and cognac at a neighbouring Chateau on Saturday evening.

Christmas or New Year in the Charente Martime

Rent a luxury cottage each sleeping 6 for one week to celebrate Christmas or New year in France. Enjoy the sights, sounds and food of this beautiful area. Visit Christmas markets, carol concerts, beautiful festive towns and delicious restaurants.

The cost of £650 per week includes accommodation in a luxury cottage, complete with decorated Christmas tree for 7 nights and a welcome 4 course meal with wine served in the Manor House for each member of the party.

Date of arrival can be flexible to suit flights
